HomeMy WebLinkAboutR1969-04 Kaibab Industries Plant Operations RESOLUTION WHEREAS, It has been brought to our attention that Kaibab • Industries are considering the feasibility of moving its plant and operations from Eagle County and moving elsewhere, and iiHER.EAS, The Board and many of our residents reoognize the many benefits that have accrued to our area from its operations, such as employment of labor, payments of taxes, and others too numer- ous to mention; and WHEREAS, the Board recognizes that the investments which the company holds in our area, and the long range development of same, are of vital interest to our economy and future growth. NO►d, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that our Board adopt the fol- lowing policies and programs to improve the conditions which have resulted in the decision of Kaibab Industries to explore the feasibil- ity of moving its plant and operations elsewhere: • 1. To pursue with the United States Forest Service, the Colorado Department of Highways and the Bureau of Public Roads, all possible avenues of obtaining assistance, financial or otherwise, in improving the Eagle to Thomasville road as soon as possible. 2. To encourage the Town of Eagle to obtain an adequate water supply with which to service the company's mill- site, and to obtain assistance from State and Federal agencies, if needed, to attain such purpose. 3. To contact, and inform, by every means possible, the residents of our area of our concern of the con- sequences that will ensue if the company moves from the area, and Of the necessity of taking any and all action which will induce the company to remain in its present location.
