RE: Inspection of Septic System Im taliation
Lot 17, Creamery Ranch
Eagle County, Colorado
Project No. 9711.2 - Permit No.1748-97
Dear Rob:
At ,your request, on June 30,1998, we visited the oonsbw6on site on Lot 17, Creamery Ranch, near
Edwards, Eagle County, Colorado. The purpose of our site visit was to observe the installation of the septic
system.
They installed the system in overall compliance with the septic system design, Drawing No.
97112SD.DWO, datedNoveanber 13,1997.
The system was connected to themain residonce as shown on the above nanned drawing. They
installed 1500-gallon, two compartments, a precast, concrete septic tank.
Fifty eight, Standard Infiltrator Chambers were installed. The fu-st three trenches had 15 Infiltrators
each, and the last trench had 13 Infiltrators. The infiltrators w= connected with serial distribution. In the last
infiltrator of each trench, inspection ports were installed. Hm iz*ntal distai1ce from canter to center of the
trenches, was 9 feet or more. All piping was SDR-35, 4-inch pvc.
If you have any questiow, please do not hesitate to call.

Attn, Bill McGuckin
P.O. Box 1155
Edwards, Colorado 81632 Job No. 194.280
Subject: Feasibility Study for Infiltration Septic Disposal Systems, Imts 1-3, 5, 6,
8-20, Creamery Ranch Subdivision, Edwards, Colorado.
Dear Mr. McGuckin:
As requested, Hepworth-Pawlak Geotechnical, Inc. performed a feasibility study for
determining the feasibility of infiltration septic disposal systems at the subject site. The
study was conducted in accordance with our proposal for geotechnical engineering
services to the Creamery Gulch Land Company dated April 15. 1994. The data
obtained and our recommendations based on the proposed construction and subsurface
conditions encountered are presented in this report.
Proposed Construction: The proposed construction will consist of single family
houses located within the building envelopes as shown on Fig. 1. At this time all lots
included in the study are vacant.
Site Conditions: In general, the subject site consists of rolling hills with vegetation
consisting of grasses and weeds, Aspens trees and low lying shrubs are found along the
perimeter on the south and east sides of th'e subdivision. Slopes range from. slight to
steep across the subdivision. Numerous irrigation ditches cross the area.
Subsurface Conditions. The subsurface conditions at the site were evaluated by
excavating 18 exploratory pits to a depth of 8 feet at the approximate locations shown
on Fig. 1. The logs of the pits are presented on Fig. 2.- The pits were located downhill
of the building envelope. The subsoils encountered, below about 1 to 2 feet of topsoil,
consist mainly of silty days with varying amounts of sand, gravel and cobble rock.
Ground water was found at a depth of 7 feet at Pit 10, Lot 10, on June 4, 1994, The
soils ranged from dry to moist.
Percolation Testing: Percolation tests were conducted in a pit between 3 1/2 to 4 1/2
feet deep next to each of the profile pits. Approximately the last 1 foot of the pit depth
was dug by hand with a post hole digger.
The percolation test results are presented in Table L Percolation rates varied from 20
minutes per inch to 60 minutes per inch. used on our exploration and testing, each lot
should be suitable for conventional infiltration septic disposal systems. The systems
should be based in the upper soils encountered to about a 4 foot depth. Lot 10 may
require a mounded system. Additional testing should be conducted for the actual design
and location.

Limitations: This report has been prepared in accordance with generally accepted
geotechnical engineering principles and practices in this area at this time. We make no
other warranty either expressed or implied, The conclusions and recommendations
submitted in this report are erased upon the data obtained from the exploratory pits
excavated at the locations indicated on Fig. 1, the proposed type of construction and our
experience in the area. Our findings include interpolation and extrapolation of the
subsurface conditions identified at the exploratory pits and variations in the subsurface
conditions may not become evident until excavation is perfortned. If conditions
encountered during construction appear different From those described in this report, we
should be notified at once so re-evaluation of the recommendations may be made.
This report has been prepared for the exclusive use by our client for design purposes.
We are not responsible for technical interpretations by others of our information. As
the project evolves, we should provide continued consultation as needed. Significant
design changes may require additional analysis or modifications to the recommendations
presented herein.

NOTES:
1. The exploratory pits were dug on June 4, 1994 with a backhoe. The profile
pits were backfilled and the percolation pits were soaked.
2. Locations of the exploratory pits were measured approximately by pacing
from the features shown on the site plan provided.
3. Elevations of the exploratory pits were not measured and the pits are drawn
to depth.
4. The exploratory pit locations should be considered accurate only to the degree
implied by the method used.
5, Water level readings shown on the log of Pit 10 was made at the time and under
the conditions indicated. No free water was encountered in the other pits at the
time of excavation. Fluctuations in water level may occur with time.
