HomeMy WebLinkAboutR88-099 Support of World Alpine Ski ChampionshipsCommissioner bi--/ �_L moved adoption of the following -Resolution: BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO RESOLUTION NO. 88 - -� PERSONNEL ACTION - IN SUPPORT OF THE WORLD ALPINE SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS WHEREAS, the World Alpine Ski Championships are scheduled to take place January 29, 1989 through February 12, 1989 at the Beaver Creek and Vail ski areas located in Eagle County; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Eagle, State of Colorado (hereinafter "the Board ") desires to support the World Alpine Ski Championships; and WHEREAS, the Board desires to allow employees of Eagle County to volunteer time to assist at the World Alpine Ski Championships; and WHEREAS, the Board desires at this time to develop and adopt a policy regarding employees volunteering time to assist at the World Alpine Ski Championships. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF THE COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO: THAT, full time employees of Eagle County may take twenty (20) hours off from work with pay if they volunteer to assist during the World Alpine Ski Championships for at least forty (410) hours. THAT, the, maximum allowed paid time off, in conjunction with this policy, will be twenty (20) hours and all reimbursement will be in the form of Leave With Pay and will not be paid in the event of termination or resignation. THAT, if the paid leave is not used at the time of the World Alpine Ski Championships, employees must use the earned time off by May 30, 1989 and any time earned because of the World Alpine Ski Championships not used by May 30, 1989 will be forfeited. THAT, employees volunteering will be required to submit a signed statement from a World Alpine Ski Championship Manager stating how many hours they volunteered during the two weeks of the Championships. 3 THAT, the volunteer work for the world Alpine Ski Championships is not considered time worked for purposes of computing overtime. THAT, any injuries an employee may incur while driving to or performing their volunteer work are not covered under Eagle County's Worker's Compensation program. THAT, employees must have their Department Head's prior approval to participate in this program and must submit a Request for Leave Form indicating the total time off is Leave With Pay. THAT, participation in this program by an Eagle County employee is entirely voluntary on the employee's part. THAT, this Resolution is effective October 1, 1988. THAT, the Board finds, determines and declares that this Resolution is necessary for the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the County of Eagle.
