HomeMy WebLinkAboutR88-017 County Powers Bill Suport• 0 Commissioner 0"A Fs o �d moved adoption of the following Resolution: BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO RESOLUTION NO. 88-J7 SUPPORTING COUNTY POWERS BILL WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Eagle County, Colorado, does recognize and support the County Powers Bill introduced in the Colorado legislature; and WHEREAS, current Colorado law encourages potentially offensive and /or illegal activities to occur outside of municipal limits because of the counties' limited authority to regulate matters of local concern; and WHEREAS, urban centers have developed within unincorpor- ated parts of Eagle County, which require greater regulation in order to achieve health and safety goals; and WHEREAS, the County Powers Bill allows for county govern- ments to respond to matters of local concern by adopting local ordinances, and the right to impose fees to enforce such ordinances. Any powers not reserved by state or municipali- ties will be given county ordinance power; and WHEREAS, the County Powers Bill also specifies that the new county powers shall in no way lessen existing municipal powers, but will give local citizens a tool to solve local problems. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Board of County Commissioners of Eagle County, Colorado, hereby does support the introduced County Powers Bill for the purpose of giving local citizens more control over local problems. s MOVED, READ AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commis- sioners of the County of Eagle, State of Colorado, at its regular meeting held the � day of 1988.
