of the following Resolution:
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO
RESOLUTION NO. 88-J7
SUPPORTING COUNTY POWERS BILL
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Eagle
County, Colorado, does recognize and support the County Powers
Bill introduced in the Colorado legislature; and
WHEREAS, current Colorado law encourages potentially
offensive and /or illegal activities to occur outside of
municipal limits because of the counties' limited authority to
regulate matters of local concern; and
WHEREAS, urban centers have developed within unincorpor-
ated parts of Eagle County, which require greater regulation
in order to achieve health and safety goals; and
WHEREAS, the County Powers Bill allows for county govern-
ments to respond to matters of local concern by adopting local
ordinances, and the right to impose fees to enforce such
ordinances. Any powers not reserved by state or municipali-
ties will be given county ordinance power; and
WHEREAS, the County Powers Bill also specifies that the
new county powers shall in no way lessen existing municipal
powers, but will give local citizens a tool to solve local
problems.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Board of County
Commissioners of Eagle County, Colorado, hereby does support
the introduced County Powers Bill for the purpose of giving
local citizens more control over local problems.
