The stratum symbols and solid lines which are used to illustrate the various strata break on the Summary of Test Borings are approximate as the transitions between soil types may occur suddenly or relatively gradual. Underlying the thin topsoil sandy SELT and variable gravels were encountered. Results of the swell -consolidation test indicate that the soils are slightly expansive. The results of tests indicated a to 7 percent swell under 1000 psf loading. fr ; ;The Indexes to Geological Mapping for Eagle County, Coloradoprepared by Charles. S. J!RQPQSFD,.r_O_NS_MUCIION The project site consists of the construction of a single family residence on the site. The residence is to be of wood frame construction with concrete slab on grade construction for the ground floor. We anticipate that the residence will be a two-story structure with a walk out basement. I to 5 kips per linear foot, and isolated column v0 loading is anticipated to range from Fout dation fr loadings are anticipated to range from approximately 5 to 25 kips. FOUNDATION RECOMMENDATIONS Based upon the results of field explorations and the laboratory testing, we recommend that conventional spread footing foundation system be used. The foundations may be designed for a bearing pr,-.ssv,of 2000 psf for footings bearing on undisturbed sandy SELT, and approved fill : materials cc-,;ipacted to the recommendations provided herein. At this pressure, settlements are anticipated to be within tolerable limits for wood frame construction, provided the improvements in the bearing soils will be made as discussed herein. The footing excavations should be relatively smooth, free of debris, organics, loose soil, frost, and standing water. Any over -excavations should be backfilled and compacted to 100 percent wi thin 2 percent of optimum moisture as determined by a. Standard Proctor Test (ASTM D-698). A representative of this office should be contacted to inspect the foundation excavation to verify that the soil conditions are the same as tnoss anticipated in this report. After A of the final grading is completed, the bottom of the footings should be covered with a minimum of 48 inches of backfill for frost protection. Voids left by the removal of cobbles in the bottom of the footing excavation should be filled with lean concrete or a granular soil with a maximum particle size of 3 inches compacted to 100 tu percent cif Stoidard Proctor Density (ASTM D-698), within 2 percent of optimum, moisture.. o• 1 . : r t .. o r t Y P,Lt Ac,A )a ., , n d ; All partition walls (non -load bearing) located on slabs should have at a 1-1/2 inch void space at the base the walls to allow the slab to move vertically, refer to detail. GROUNDWATER AND DRAIN SYSTEM y While no groundwater was reported in the soil test borings at the time the field investigation was conducted, it is possible that seasonal variations will cause fluctuations, or for a water table to be present in the upper soils during the spring months, or after prolonged periods of rain A foundation ;. perimeter drain as detailed on Figure No. 11 is recommended to reduce the risk of surface water t 5 < infiltrating the footing subsoils. MERRY, REHS Director RE: Final approval of Individual Sewage Disposal System ISDS Permit IS-2408A-05; Tax parcel #: 1941-244-02-004; Property Location: 1301 Red Canyon Rd., Wolcott Dear new owner of a private wastewater system, This letter is to inform you that the above referenced ISDS Permit has been inspected and finalized. Your septic system has been sized to accommodate (6) bedrooms. Enclosed is a copy to retain for your records along with a brochure regarding the care of your septic system. Additional information about the maintenance of your septic system as well as information about private wells can be accessed through our web site links we've provided in the Environmental Health Department's page, hqp://www.eaglecounty.us/envHealth/ Be aware that changes in the use of your property or alterations of your building may require commensurate changes to, or relocation of, your septic system. Landscape features, trees with tap roots, irrigation systems and parking areas above the drain field can cause premature system failure. It is equally important that you notice and immediately repair dripping faucets and hissing toilets as this will certainly cause the system to fail. By following a few simple guidelines, like avoiding grease or other additives down the drain and making sure your septic tank is on a pumping schedule, you system has been designed to last for many years. If you have any questions regarding this information, please contact us at (970) 328-8755. CIVu./GEOTECEMCAL June 23, 2005 Mr. Jeff Cobb RE: Inspection of Selitic System InstauatfonAdditfou P.O. Box 1932 Lot 10, Red Mountain Ranch Edwards, CO 81632 1301 Red Canyon Road Eagle County, Colorado Project No. 05003 - ISDS Permit No. 2408A-05 Dear Jeff At the request of Mr. Tere Nottingham, on May 27 and June 15, 2005, we visited the construction site on Lot 10, Red Mountain Ranch,1301 Red Canyon Road Eagle County, Colorado. The purpose of our site visits was to inspect the installation of additional to the septic system. Instead of the recommended, additional, one thousand, one compartment, precast concrete septic tank, they abandoned the existing tank (by filling it with soil) and installed, new, 3000-gallons, two - compartments, precast, concrete, septic tank. Also, new cleanout was installed between the house and the new tank. When backtllling over the tank, risers will be installed. From the tank to the leachfield there was a cleanout at about 100 feet south from the tank. As shown on the attached, as -built sketch, they added a new trench with fourteen infiltrators between the new septic tank and the existing leachfield on the hillside above. From this trench they connected to the first row of the existing leachfield (which had 10 infiltrators), and at the end of this trench they added four new infiltrators. From this trench they connected to the next row of existing(10) infiltrators and added two new infiltrators on each end, for a total of fourteen. One of the new infiltrators, replaced an existing, broken infiltrator. The next trench was constructed with thirteen new, standard, infiltrator chambers, the next with ten and the last with eight. The infiltrators were connected with serial distribution. In the first and last infiltrator of each trench, inspection ports were installed. The trenches were at least 6 feet apart and no more than 36 inches deep. The modified system consists of one, 3000-gallons, two -compartments, precast, concrete septic tank and 73 standard, infiltrator chambers. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.
