This summary is presented to the Eagle County Environmental Health Division,
following a meeting with Ray Merry on April 15, 1996. We discussed the septic
system at 492 Meadow Road as per their addition / remodel and the need to
upgrade the septic tank to the required amount of 1250 gallons,, it is presently a
1000 gal. tank and the elevation issue as regards the new addition.
Plans for the new addition to the house, on the south end, calls for a drop of 14"
below the existing slab on grade level. It has been concluded, following a field
examination, that the location of the present tank, on the north end of the house
does not allow for a sufficient elevation drop for the new addition, 2" short at
1 /8 inch per foot.
In order to accommodate the need for the expanded tank capacity as well as
meet the need for an elevation drop below the existing tank, it was proposed
that a new 1000 gal. tank be placed next to the existing 1000 gal tank, bringing
the total tank household capacity to 2000 gallons. Because of the elevation
change in the new tank would be approximately 11 inches, given a preferred
drop of 1/4 inch per foot, the two tanks would not be connected but would share
the same leach field. A Y joint connection would occur 10'-15' beyond the tank
outlets.
The new tank would drain 2 toilets, 3 bathroom sinks, 2 showers, a bathtub, a
laundry room sink, washer, and floor drain.
The existing tank would drain/2 toilets, 3 bathroom sinks, a bathtub, 2 kitchen
sinks and a dishwasher.
In considering all the options available, the above proposal seems to be the most
effective course of action and is presented to the Eagle County Environmental
Health Division for approval. Submitted on April 24, 1996.

RE: Elliott Residence ISDS Upgrade
Dear Ray:
I have reviewed remodelling plans. for Buck and Holly Elliott's house which -they plan to
remodel,, adding one, bedroom. The additional bedroom requires, that the storage capacity;of
the septic tank be increased to 1,125 gallons. The existing -ISDS system on site consists of a
1,000 gallon tank and leach field. The existing tank is located too high to allow "for gravity
feed from the addition, and they -are proposing adding a second 1,000 gallon capacity tank
next to the existing tank at a lower elevation to accommodate a portion of the effluent from
the house. I have analyzedthe.water usage of fixtures feeding each of the tanks and found
that the flow is split approximately evenly (4753) between the two tanks; the tanks appear to.
be properly sized for peak flows. Please refer to the attached calculations.
It is my understanding that the existing leach field has an absorption area of 800 square feet.
You indicated to me that the soils on the site are sandy and should have a long-term'
acceptance rate of 1:2 gallons per square foot; the proposed system will load at a "rate of 1.4
gallons per, square foot and should be adequate.
I would recommend, for the ,purposes' of future flexibility, ;that the proposed tank be located
near the existing tank with a separation of at least 3 feet.. Pipes carrying effluent from the
two tanks should join in a wye 10'- 15 feet below the tanks.

RE: Issuance of Individual Sewage Disposal System Permit No. 1575-96.
Property Location: 492 Meadow Rd., Edwards, CO., Elliott residence.
Enclosed is your ISDS Permit No. 1575-96. It is valid for 120 days. The enclosed copy of the
permit must be posted at the installation site. Any changes in plans or specifications invalidates
the permit unless otherwise approved.
Systems designed by a Registered Professional Engineer must be certified by the Engineer
indicating that the system was installed as specified. Eagle County does not perform final
inspections on engineer designed systems. Your TCO will not be issued until our office
receives this certification.
Permit specifications are minimum requirements only, and should be brought to the property
owner's attention.
This permit does not indicate conformance with other Eagle County requirements.
