HomeMy WebLinkAboutR89-056 law enforcement torch run day for colorado special olympicsCommissioner moved adoption of the following Resolution: BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO RESOLUTION NO. 89- - ,S -- 6 RESOLUTION DECLARING MAY 17, 1989 "LAW ENFORCEMENT TORCH RUN DAY" FOR COLORADO SPECIAL OLYMPICS WHEREAS, the Colorado Special Olympics are held each year to provide year — round training, athletic competition and socialization, and to promote physical fitness and wellness for developmentally disabled persons; and WHEREAS, a lighted torch is being relayed throughout Colorado in honor of the Colorado Special Olympics, which will be held in Colorado Springs on Sunday, May 21, 1989; and WHEREAS, on Wednesday, May 17, 1989, law enforcement officers from The County of Eagle, the Town of Eagle, the Town of Vail and the Town of Avon will be relaying the Special Olympic torch from the Garfield —Eagle County line to the Eagle— Summit County line in support of the Colorado Special Olympics; and WHEREAS, law enforcement personnel throughout Eagle County wish to donate their. time and energy to promote public awareness of the Colorado Special Olympics. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF THE COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO: THAT, the Board of County Commissioners acknowledges and commends the efforts of the law enforcement personnel throughout Eagle County. THAT, Wednesday, May 17, 1989 be designated as "Law Enforcement Torch Run Day" for Colorado Special Olympics. 3 MOVED, READ AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Eagle, State of Colorado, at its regular meeting held the . —day of 1989.
