Box 179 Eagle, CO 8,1631 0: New York Mountain Yurt, Graywater ISDS Dear Ray: I have recently spoken .,with Mr. Ralph Thomas concerning the disposal ,of graywater from`a hand sink in his New York Mountain yurt. Mr. Thomas estimates that the volume of water requiring disposal is approximately '2 gallons per day of yurt use: The yurt will mostly be used only on the weekends during'6 months of the year. I" have calculated that the cumulative wastewater production from the handsink is approximately 156 gallons per year. It is infeasible to run a gravity -feed sewer line from the yurt to the ISDS tank on -site. Mr. Thomas proposes collection of the "hand sink `effluent into a bucket and, hand -carrying the wastewater to the ISDS tank. Alpine calculated that the 1„000-gallon capacity ISDS .tank would required pumping every one to two years. The addition of the hand sink effluent` -will not' cause an increase ,in the 'pumping frequency. Visitors to the yurt facility will be responsible; for emptying hand sink effluent into the ISDS tank. Mr. Thomas will visit the site monthly for general maintenance and to check the level of effluent in the. tank. Information will be. provided to visitors concerning the proper disposal.of wastewater at the site, i.e: the importance of not disposing of wastewater onto the ground surface.'' Mr. Thomas will have the ,tank pumped at intervals that will preclude' overflow of the tank.
