HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 02/28/2023 PUBLIC HEARING February 28, 2023 Present: Kathy Chandler-Henry Chairman Matt Scherr Commissioner Jeanne McQueeney Commissioner Jeff Shroll County Manager Matt Peterson Assistant County Attorney Kathy Scriver Deputy Clerk to the Board This being a scheduled Public Hearing,the following items were presented to the Board of County Commissioners for their consideration: Constituent Input Commissioner Chandler-Henry opened and closed constituent input, as there was none. Commissioner Updates Commissioner McQueeney spoke about what was happening at the State Capitol. She estimated that there were 389 bills introduced, and the county was monitoring more than a dozen. She believed it was important to note that what happened down at the Capitol had a direct impact on what went on in the county. It was important to take an active role and she encouraged folks in the community to provide input. Commissioner Scherr acknowledged the loss of a young community member recently to suicide. There were a lot of organizations doing work in the community, and Speak Up Reach Out was a remarkable local organization that dealt with the issue. Anywhere in the United States you could call 988 if there were any concerns about yourself or others. Chairman Chandler-Henry gave a shout out to Road and Bridge and Facilities for their ongoing, seemingly never ending work on snow removal and keeping sidewalks and roads plowed. County Manager Updates Jeff Shrool spoke about a recent call with Congressman Neguse. He believed the Colorado legislature did a good job of staying connected. One of the most important bills he was helping support was regarding the SHRED Act which would keep a lot of the White River National Forest money in the White River National Forest from the ski industry. He appreciated the congressional delegation providing helpful information. Consent Agenda 1. Approval of the Minutes for the Board of County Commissioner Meetings for December 6,December 20,2022 and January 3,2023 Kathy Scriver, Clerk&Recorder's Office Commissioner Scherr moved to approve the Consent Agenda for February 28, 2023 as presented.
