Commissioner Updates
Commissioner McQueeney spoke about what was happening at the State Capitol. She estimated that there
were 389 bills introduced, and the county was monitoring more than a dozen. She believed it was important to note
that what happened down at the Capitol had a direct impact on what went on in the county. It was important to take
an active role and she encouraged folks in the community to provide input.
Commissioner Scherr acknowledged the loss of a young community member recently to suicide. There
were a lot of organizations doing work in the community, and Speak Up Reach Out was a remarkable local
organization that dealt with the issue. Anywhere in the United States you could call 988 if there were any concerns
about yourself or others.
Chairman Chandler-Henry gave a shout out to Road and Bridge and Facilities for their ongoing, seemingly
never ending work on snow removal and keeping sidewalks and roads plowed.
County Manager Updates
Jeff Shrool spoke about a recent call with Congressman Neguse. He believed the Colorado legislature did a
good job of staying connected. One of the most important bills he was helping support was regarding the SHRED
Act which would keep a lot of the White River National Forest money in the White River National Forest from the
ski industry. He appreciated the congressional delegation providing helpful information.
