Box 179 Eagle, CO 81631 RE: Lynch Property, Lot 7 Creamery Gulch, Individual Sewage Disposal System Dear Ray: In accordance with requirements for a building permit for the above -referenced property, Alpine Engineering is preparing an Application for Individual Sewage Disposal System (ISDS) Permit. After considering the design requirements of the site and applicable setbacks, we have determined that the area where percolation tests were performed does not provide enough area for a properly designed septic system. Additional percolation tests will be required. However, due to winter conditions, percolation tests can not be performed until the Spring. We have reviewed the geotechnical information and have had discussions with HP Geotech, and we believe that, upon obtaining the additional percolation data, a septic system can be designed for the site which would meet County requirements. Alpine Engineering requests, on behalf of our client, that a building permit be granted without an ISDS permit. Alpine Engineering will prepare the ISDS permit application as soon as possible following the additional percolation tests. If you have any questions concerning this request, please do not hesitate to call me. Sincerely, Linn Schorr Environmental Engineer cc: Glenn Palmer Sandy Treat Edwards Business Center • P.O. Box 97 Edwards, CO 81632 (970) 926-3373 SEPTIC SYSTEM APPLICATION INTRODUCTION Lot 7 Creamery Gulch Ranch is a single family homesite located in the Lake Creek drainage near Edwards, Eagle County, Colorado. The Creamery Gulch Ranch subdivision is not served by Upper Eagle Valley Consolidated Sewer District; an individual sewage disposal system is proposed. PROPOSED USE A nine (9) bedroom residential single family dwelling is proposed to be constructed on the property. QUANTITY OF SEWAGE (9 Bedrooms)(2 persons/bedroom)(75 gpd)(1.5 peaking factor) = 2,025 gpd REDUCTION FOR WATER CONSERVATION DEVICES Request a 15% reduction for the installation of water conservation devices. 2,025 gpd x 0.85 = 1,721 gpd SEPTIC TANK SIZE 1,721 gpd x 30 hrs/day = 2,151 gallons 24 hrs/day Round to 2,250 gallon capacity septic tank. SOILS INVESTIGATION A soil profile boring was advanced in the area of the proposed absorption trenches on September 13, 1994. The boring was advanced to a depth of 9 feet and encountered 1.5 feet of topsoil followed by 7.5 feet of very clayey sand with siltstone fragments ranging from gravel to cobble size. Groundwater was not encountered in the profile boring or any of the other exploratory borings advanced on the site during the geotechnical investigation. On May 18, 1995, Alpine Engineering, Inc. conducted three percolation tests in the proposed location of the septic system absorption trenches. Three pits were hand -dug to a depth of two -and -a -half feet, encountering approximately 1.5 feet of top soil followed by a clayey sand Application for ISDS Permit 1 Lot 7 Creamery Gulch Ranch with rock fragments. The results of the tests are presented on the attached table. All three tests indicated sufficient percolation rates. Due to the presence of clay at the site, 35 minutes per inch was chosen to provide a conservative design. TRENCH DESIGN A = Q/5 (T)O.'
