BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO
RESOLUTION NO. 90-4/
PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF APRIL 21ST - 27TH
EARTH AWARENESS WEEK
WHEREAS, there has been an increased awareness of actions
having direct and indirect impacts on our local environment; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Eagle County and the surrounding
areas are concerned that steps be taken to preserve the quality of
the environment for the present and for future generations; and
WHEREAS, April 22nd marks the twentieth anniversary of
the first Earth Day, a day established to increase people's
awareness of their environment and the effect their actions have
on the environment; and
•
WHEREAS, there is an international, national and local
effort to involve as many entities as possible in this twentieth
anniversary celebration of Earth Day through special events, the
media and local efforts; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of Earth Awareness Week is to bring
into focus within Eagle County the understanding that the
preservation and improvement of our environment is the
responsibility of each individual; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Eagle
County recognizes the importance of addressing environmental
issues.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF THE COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO:
THAT, the week of April 21st- 27th be designated as Earth
Awareness Week.
