MERRY, REH Director December 1, 2014 Ben Thompson 13980 Colo River Rd Ben.thompson@netzero.com RE:Final approval of septic repair permit OWTS-10-14-11684;Tax parcel #186113402003; Property location: 13980 Colorado River Rd., Gypsum area Ben: This letter is to inform you that the above-referenced septic repair permit has been inspected and finalized. This permit was approved for the repair of your soil treatment area.Additional information about the maintenance your septic system needs as well as information about private wells can be accessed through web site links provided on the Environmental Health Department’s home page at http://www.eaglecounty.us/envHealth/ Be aware that changes in the use of your property or alterations of your building may require commensurate changes to,or relocation of,your septic system.Landscape features, trees with tap roots, irrigation systems and parking areas above the drain field can cause premature system failure. It is equally important that you notice and immediately repair dripping faucets and hissing toilets as this will certainly cause the system to fail.By following a few simple guidelines, like avoiding grease or other additives down the drain and making sure your septic tank is on a pumping schedule, your system has been designed to last for many years. If you have any questions regarding this information, please contact us at (970)328-8755 and reference the OWTS septic permit number. Sincerely, Terri Vroman Administrative Technician IV cc:OWTS permit folder 1 October 16, 2014 Ben Thompson 13980 Colorado River Road Gypsum, CO 81637 E-mail: Ben.Thompson@netzero.com RE: Consultation on Septic System Repair 13980 Colorado River Road Lot 3, River’s Bend Filing No. 1 Eagle County, Colorado Project No. 14-2984 Dear Ben: At your request, on October 15, 2014, we met on site at 13980 Colorado River Road, Lot 3, River’s Bend Filing No. 1, Eagle County, Colorado. The purpose of our site visit was to observe the failed leachfield area and to discuss the best alternatives for the repair. The existing septic system consists of 1000-gallons, two compartments, plastic septic tank and 27 Standard Infiltrator Chambers (6.25' by 3') in four trenches. The system was constructed in November of 2003, and we understand that it has been pumped five times since. The building sewer line comes out of the house above the foundation wall and it is covered with a wooden enclosure. We understand that the chambers are full of dirt and there is a possible separation of the effluent line at the septic tank outlet. We recommend that the old leachfield be dug out and the subgrade of the trenches inspected, before constructing the new trenches. The new leachfield was calculated based on the new regulations in effect and it is smaller than the old leachfield. It will consist of 33 Quick 4 plus, standard infiltrator chambers in three trenches, as shown on the septic repair sketch. In addition, it is recommended (but not required) that the building sewer line is reconstructed to exist through the foundation wall, below grade, and to construct a cleanout on the outside of the house. There is no other warranty either expressed or implied. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call. Sincerely, LKP ENGINEERING, INC. The purpose of our site visits was to observe the installation of the repaired portion of the septic system. They installed the system in overall compliance with the septic system repair sketch, dated October 15, 2014. The existing septic tank and the building sewer line were not part of the repair. They installed a new leachfield consisting of 33 Quick 4 Plus, Standard Infiltrator Chambers in three trenches. The first and second trenches had 13 infiltrators each and the last trench had seven. The infiltrators were connected with serial distribution. Horizontal distance was 6 feet from side to side of the infiltrators. Inspection ports were installed in the first and last infiltrator of each trench. The soil exposed in the bottom of the trenches was dry. It consisted of reddish-brown, gravelly sand. The system was installed as shown on the attached as-built repair sketch. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call. Sincerely, LKP Engineering, Inc. The purpose of our site visits was to observe the installation Of the septic system. They installed the system in overall compliance with the septic system. design, Drawing No. 03066SD.DWG, dated July 28, 2003. The system was installed as shown on the attached as - built sketch. They connected the building sewer line from the north side of the building into the septic tank. We understand that there is a cleanout inside the basement. The septic tai* was a 1050 gallon, two compartments, a plastic, septic tank. Twenty-seven, standard, infiltrator chambers were installed with serial distribution in, four trenches. The first trench (closest to the tank) had six, infiltrators the second had eight, the third had a total of five infiltrators (three west of the power pole and two east of the power pole), the fourth had eight Infiltrator chambers. The infiltrators were connected with serial distribution. Horizontal distance was 9 feet from center to center of the trenches. Inspection parts were installed in the first and last infiltrator of each. trench. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call. Sincerely, r Rfsze LK P Engineering, l i ?
