On February 26, 1992, this department conducted a site inspection of the above referenced property. The inspection was requested by you for the purpose of evaluating the existing condition of the on -site wastewater disposal and water supply systems. A review of the County records indicates that, on July 10, 1989, the sewage disposal system was permitted under Permit Number 9221 inspected and approved in accordance with County Individual Sewage Disposal Regulations. The system consists of a 1000 gallon septic tank and 1020 square feet of absorption area (via 340 lineal feet of 10" SB2 piping). A visual inspection of the ground surface indicated that the system is apparently functioning satisfactorily at this time. Obviously, this does not guarantee the continued satisfactory performance of the system. PERCOLATION TEST RESULTS AND SEPTIC RECOMMENDATIONS FOR LOT R-6, SOUTH FORTY SUBDIVISION FILING NO. 1 EAGLE COUNTY, COLORADO PREPARED FOR: PENNY LOFARO PROJECT iVO. 89117E JUNE 1989 1420 Vance Street Lakewood, Colorado 80215 Phone:-232-0158 This report presents the results of percolation tests and provides septic system recommendations for the proposed single family residence on Lot R-6, South Forty Subdivision, Filing No_ 1, Eagle County, Colorado. SLTE INVESTIGATION The site was investigated on May 31, 1989, and three percolation tests were dug to a minimum depth of 27 inches. Holes were presoaked and percolation tests performed on June 3, 1989. Results of these test are included in this report; see PERCOLATION TEST RESULTS. A test pit was excavated to a depth of 10 feet on June 7, 1989. The locations of the percolation test holes and test pit are shown on drawing No. 1. A summary of the test pit is detailed on Figure No.l. SIT . LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION The site is located on Lariat Court in Eagle County, Colorado. The site slopes to the north at approximately 20%. Drainage in the area of the proposed absorption trenches is to the northwest. Vegetation consists of sagebrush and sparse grasses. Subsurface conditions in the proposed leach field area are relatively uniform, and consist of l foot of topsoil underlain by sandy silt to a depth of 9.5 feet. Between 9.5 feet and 10 feet, the soil consists of sandy silt with weathered rock fragments. 3 No ground water was encountered during excavation. ' _ 3.alm ' z 0 V 2 _ 0.0 A total of three percolation tests were performed on the site as specified by the Eagle County Individual Sewage Disposal System Regulations_ Results were as follows: Test Hole Min/I" Drop Date of Test Ambient -Air Temp 1 20 6/3/89 60 2 25 6/3/89 60 3 50 6/3/89 60 Average time for 1 inch drop = 32 minutes 1130NOT"NSFORGOROFTA A single-family residence has been proposed for this site for year-round use. The residence will have a total of three (3) bedrooms, and will be equipped with a garbage disposer and automatic clothes washing machine. Thus design criteria for calculations are: 2 persons/ bedroom '75 gallons/person/day- average flow +20% absorption area for garbage disposer +40% absorption area for automatic washer -25% absorption area for dosing tank Maximum flow: 150% of average flow CALCULATIONS A= Off Where A= minimum absorption area (sq. ft.) 5 Q= maximum quantity of sewage flow (gal/day) T= percolation rate (min/inch) @= 3x2x75xl.5 = 675 gal/day A O _ 675 32 764 sq. ft. S 5 4 + 153 sq. ft. (disposal + 20%) + 306 sq. ft. (washer +40%) - 191 sq. ft. (dosing -25%) 1032 sq. ft. absorption trench From table 5, a minimum area of 165 sq. ft. per bedroom is required. (165 x 3= 495 sq. ft., which is less than 1032 sq, ft.) Minimum area of absorption trench is 103E sq. ft., use 1050 sq. ft_ If Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc_ SB2 10 inch "graveless" leach bed tubing is used, one lineal foot of pipe is required for for each three square feet of absorption trench area: thus 350 lineal feet is required. From Table 4 (section 4.07.01 of the Eagle County Regulations), a 1,000 gallon septic tank is required. - SEPTIC SYSTEMS RECOMMENDATIONS Based on the proceeding calculations, it is recommended to install a 1000-gallon compartmented septic tank followed by a minimum 1050 square foot seepage trench. The seepage trench should lie a minimum of 10 feet from all property lines, and 20 feet from the proposed residence.- An inspection of the system should be made by a representative of the Eagle County Environmental Health Department prior to backfilling. The installation and material specifications must comply with the Eagle County Individual Sewage Disposal System Regulations. As an alternative to the standard 1050 square foot seepage t^^ trench, 350 lineal feet of 10-inch diameter "graveless "leach bed tubing (as manufactured by Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc.) 5 could be embedded in the native soils of the site. A dosing chamber with dual alternating siphons will be installed. The dosing chamber will allow for periodic high rate discharge to alternating portions of the field_ This would prolong the life of the drainage field. CONCLUSIONS . TONS This report has been prepared for the exclusive use of Penny Lofaro for the specific application to the proposed single- family residence at Lot R-6, South Forty Subdivision; Filing No. 1, Eagle County; Colorado. The findings and recommendations of this report have been obtained in accordance with accepted professional engineering practices. There is no other warranty, either expressed or implied.
