SCOPE
This report presents the results of percolation tests
and provides septic system recommendations for the proposed
residence on Lot 37, Block 6, Lake Creek Meadows, Eagle County,
Colorado.
SITE INVESTIGATION
The field investigation performed on February 5 and 12,
1981, consisted of digging three holes to a minimum depth of
30 inches, Percolation tests were performed on February 6 and
13, 1981. Locations of the test holes are shown on the
enclosed sketch. Results of the percolation tests are included
in this report - see PERCOLATION TEST RESULTS.
SITE LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION
The site is located in a part of Section 18, Township 5
South, Range 82 West of the Sixth Principal Meridian, Eagle
County, Colorado. More particularly, the site is described
as Lot 37, Block 6, Lake Creek Meadows.
The building area of Lot 37 is the most westerly portion
of the lot. The topsoil has been removed and stockpiled on the
lot.
2
SUBSURFACE AND GROUNDWATER CONDITIONS
Subsurface conditions of the building area are uniform
and consist of sand and gravel with cobbles and boulders.
No groundwater was encountered.
Additional soils information may be found in the "Soils
and Foundation Investigation" for this property, dated Decem-
ber 15, 1980, Project No. V-0247G, by Inter -Mountain Engineering,
Ltd.
PERCOLATION TEST RESULTS
A total of three percolation tests were performed on the
site using the standard test method as described by the Eagle
County Individual Sewage Disposal Systems Regulations. Results
were as follows:
Test Hole No.
1
2
3
Min./I" Drop Date of Test Ambient Air Temp.

45 2/6/81 250F

Average time for I inch drop: 14.33 minutes
DESIGN CRITERIA
A duplex has been proposed for this site with the secondary
unit planned for construction at a future date. The septic

DESIGN CRITERIA - continued
system will
be designed to
serve both units.
The
two units
will have
a total of eight
(8) bedrooms, and
will
include a
garbage grinder and an automatic washing machine.
Thus, design criteria for calculations are:
2 persons/bedroom
75 gallons/person/day
Maximum flow: 150% of average daily flow
CALCULATIONS
A = QY-T
5
where A = minimum absorption area (sq.ft.)
Q = estimated quantity of sewage flow (gal/day)
T = percolation rate (min/inch)
Q= 8 x 2 x 75 x 150%*= 1800 gallons/day
A = 1800YY 14.3 - 1361 square feet
Absorption area is to be increased 20% for the garbage
grinder and 40% for the automatic washer (County Regulation 5.4F).
1361 x 1.60 = 2178 square feet
From Table III (Section 5.3 of the County Regulation), two
1250 gallon septic tanks shall be installed, one for each unit.
4
SEPTIC SYSTEM RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the preceding calculations, recommendations are
for two s e 1250 ompartmented septic tanks to
be followed by a 'nimum 2200 square foot seepage bed. The
bed should lie a minimum of ten feet from property lines,
and twenty feet from the proposed residence. Inspection of
the system should be made by a representative of the Eagle
County Environmental Health Department prior to backfilling.
It has been brought to our attention by Eric Edeen, Eagle
County Sanitarian, that the county will require the separate
septic tanks for each unit, but a common leach field will be
permitted. When the parcel is subdivided, arrangements should
be made for responsibilities for maintaining the common leach
field.
Excerpts from the Eagle County Individual Sewage Disposal
System Regulations have been included;in this report as
Appendix A. The installation and material specificati6ns.in
these Regulations should be followed.
CONCLUSIONS
This report has been prepared for the exclusive use of
Con and Joan Curran, for the specific application to the proposed
residence located on Lot 37, Block 6, Lake Creek Meadows,
