Dear Rob,
At your request, on Juno 30, 19919, we visited the constrwtion site on Lot 17, Creamery Ranch, near
Edwards, Eagle County, Colorado. The purpose ofour site visit was to observe the installation of the septic
system. They installed the system in ov=0 compliance I with t1w septic system design, Drawing No.
97ll2SD.DWG, dated November 13,1997.
The system was connected to the main residmxo as shown on ft above named drawing. They
installed I 500-gallon, two compartments, a precast, concrete septic tank
Fifty eight, Standard Infiltrator Clwnbers w= installed. The first three trenches had 15 Infiltrators
each, and the last trench had 13 Infiltrators, The infiltrators won conumted with serial distribution. In the last
infiltrator of each trench, inspection ports were installed Horizontal distance from center to center of the
trenches, was 9 feet or more. All piping was SIR-35, 4-inch pvc.

Subject: Feasibility Study for infiltration Septic Disposal System, Lots 1-3, 5,
8-20, Creamery Ranch Subdivision, Edwards, Colorado. i
Dear Mr. McGuckin:
As requested, Hepworth-Pawlak Geotechnical, Inc. performed a fusibility study for
deterrriining the feasibility of infiltration septic disposal systems at the subject
study was conducted in accordance with our proposal for gootechnical engineering
services to the Creamery Gulch Land Company dated April 15, 19,94. The data
obtained and our recommendations based on the proposed construction and subsurface
conditions encountered are presented in this report. "I
Proposed Construction: The proposed construction will consist of single family
houses located within the building envelopes as shown on Fig. 1. At this time all lots
included in the study are Vacant.
Site Conditions: in general, the subject site consists of rolling hills with vegetation
consisting of grasses and weeds, Aspen trees and low lying shrubs are found along the
perimeter on the south and cast sides of the subdivision, Slopes range from slight to
steep across the subdivision. Numerous irrigation ditches cross the area.
Subsurface Conditions: The subsurface conditi011s at the site were evaluated by
excavating 18 exploratory pits to a depth of 8 feet at the approximate locations shown
on Fig, 1, The logs of the pits are presented on Fig. 2.' The pits were locate downhill
of the building envelope, Tice subsoils encountered, below about I to 2 feet Of topsoil,
consist mainly of silty clays with varying amounts of sand, gravel and cobble rock.
Ground water was found at a depth of 7 feet at Pit 10, Lot 10, on June 4, 1994, The
soils ranged from dry to moist.
Percolation Testing,; Percolation tests were conducted in a pit between 3 1/2 to 4 1/2
feet deep next to each of the profile pits. ApprOxim*telY the last 1 foot of the pit depth
was dug by hand with a post hole digger.
The percolation test TCSUItS are presented in Table I. Percolation rates varied from 20
minutes per inch to 60 minutes per inch. Based on our exploration and testing, each lot
should be suitable for conventiOnAl infiltration septic disposal systems. The systems
sbould be based in the upper soils encountered to about a 4 foot depth. Lot 10 may
require a mounded system- Addonal testing should be conducted for the actual design
an1 location.

i . The exploratory pits ware dug on June 4, 1994 with a backhoe, The profile
pits were backfilled and the percolation pits were soaked.
2. Locations of the exploratory pits were measured approximately by pacing
from the features shown on the site plan provided.
3. Elevations of the exploratory pits were not measured and the pits are drawn
to depth.
4. The exploratory pit locations should be considered accurate only to the degree
implied by the method used.
5, Water level readings shown an the log of Pit 10 was made at the time and under
the conditions indicated. No free water was encountered in the other pits at the
time of excavation. Fluctuations in water level may occur with time.
