Dear Kurt,
RE: Inspection or septic System Installation
Lot R- 13, South Forty Subdivision
Eagle County, Colorado
Project No. 9812 - Permit No. 1815-98
At your request, on April 23, 1999, we visited the construction site on Lot R- 13, South Forty
Subdivision, Eagle County, Colorado. The purpose of our site visit was to observe the installation of the
septic System.
They installed the system in overall compliance with the septic system design, Drawing No.
98121 SD.DWG, dated August 10, 1998. The system was installed as shown on the above named drawing;
except it was about 10 feet closer to the residence. They installed 1000-gallon, two compartments, -a
precast, concrete septic tank. The tank had risers on both inspection covers. Those are not necessary and
should be removed. From the tank to the first Infiltrator trench was 10 feet.—'
Eighteen Standard Infiltrator Chambers were installed in two trenches with 9 Infiltrators cacti. -The
infiltrators were connected with serial distribution. In the last infiltrator of each trench, inspection polls
will be installed. Horizontal distance from center to center of the trenches, was 9 feet. All piping was SDR-
35, 4-inch PVC -I -he depth of the trenches was two to three feet, two feet near the house and three feet on
the east end -:-The soil profile in the trenches was consistent with the soil described in the report by Inter -
Mountain Engineering, LTD.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,

PERCOLATION TEST RESULTS
A total of three percolation tests were Performed on
the site using the Standard test method as described by
the Eagle County Individual Sewage Disposal System Requiations,
The test holes were dug by the client. The test holes were
presoaked on May 5, 1981, and the test was performed on May 6,
1981. The results were as follows:
Test Hole No. Min./I" kro Depth of Hole
1 5 min.,,10 sec. 4811
2 6 min., 30 sec. 4811
3 6 min., 30 sec. 36TO

DESIGN CRITERIA
The house will have threebedroomsand will include a
garbage grinder and automatic washing machine. Assumptions
used in th-e calculations were:
Three bedrooms with garbage grinder and automatic
Wash ln9 machine.

Q = estimated quantity of sewage flow (gal/day)
T z; percolation rate (Min/inch)
Q = 2 x 3 x 75 x 1.5 = 675 gal/day
675-V6.5
A = 5 344 sq. ft.
Absorption area to be increased 20% for a garbage grinder
and 40% for tlo automatic washer (County Regulation 8.1 e).
344 x 1.60 = 551 sq. ft.
Since a seepage bed Is to be used, the absorption area
is to be increased by an additional 30% (County Regulation
8.1 h ) .
551 x 1.30 = 716 sq. ft.
Due to subsidence problems in this area, the seepage bed
should be increased by another 30%.
716 x 1.30 = 931 sq. it. - Use IS x 52 = 9.36 sq. ft.
Adjusting the length of the absorption be,d for acid l"tional
gravel depth (County Regulation 8.1 1), for one foot of addi-
tional gravel:
Length = 52 x 48+1+2
= 50 ft.
SIZE Or SEEPAGE BED = 18 feet x 50 feet.
From Table 4 (Section 7.1 of the County Regulations),
the
Minimum tank size shall be 1000 gallons.

SEPTIC SYSTEM RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the preceding calculations, recommendations are
for a minimum of a 1000 gat Ion compartmented septic tank to
be foliowed by a minimum 936 square foot seepage bed. The
bed should lie a minimum of ten feet from property lines and
twenty feet from the proposed residence. Inspection of the
system should be made by a representative of Inteir-Mountain
Engineitaring, Ltd., and by a representative of the Eagle County
Environmental Health Department prior to backf IA I Ing.
Excerpts from the Eagle County Individual Sewage Disposal
System Regulations have been included as Appendix A. The
Installation and matsrl6l specifications in these regulations
Must be followed.
