Mr. Greg Kafika RE: Inspection of Septic System Installation-Kaifk8 Residence
Summit Habitats Lot 4, Cordillera, at the Divide Filing No. 29
P.O. Boat 1829 78 Rue De Prince
Edwards, CO 81632 Eagle County, Colorado
Project No. 991133 - Permit No. I956-00
Dear Greg:
At your request, and at the request of Steve Jewett from Arena Excavating, on May 4, and June
15, 2000, we visited the construction site on Lot 4, Cordillera Filing No. 29, 78 Rue Tie Prince, The
Divide at Cordillera, Eagle County, Colorado. The purpose of our site visit was to observe the
installation of the septic system.
They installed the system in overall compliance with the septic system design, Drawing No.
99133SD.DWG, dated March 2, 2000. The system was installed as shown on the attached as -built sketch.
The first two trenches acid the septic tank were located by Meyer Land Systems. They installed 1.000-
gallon, two compartments, a precast, concrete septic tank.
Forty-eight Standard Infiltrator Chambers were installed, as shown on the attached as -built
sketch. The infiltrators were connected with serial distribution. In the first and last infiltrator of each
trench, ;inspection ports were installed. Horizontal distance from center to center of the trenches, was 9
feet or more. All piping was SDR-35, 4-inch PVC.
The location of the south property line was not marked, and the building was rotated from the
original location used for the septic design. Because of this, following the final inspection of the
leachfiled, it was not certain if the last trench was 10 feet from the property line or not. Poet this reason
the last trench was relocated north of the first trench and it was connected through a distribution box. The
distribution box was installed in the effluent line between the septic tank and the original first trench with
infiltrators.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely, .T , fyR /'f %.

Dear Louiza,
Eagle County Building
P.O. Box 179
500 Broadway
Eagle, Colorado 81631-0179
Thank you for copying Eagle County on your ISDS permit final inspection letter for permit
number 1956-00, lot 4, Cordillera at the Divide, filing number 29, 78 Rue De Prince. I
understand that due to the building rotation, you had a concern that if the system had been
installed as per your design that the leach field may have been within the ten foot property line
setback. The installation of what was to be the last trench, above the first trench solves the
setback issue, however, the use of a distribution box is discouraged in Eagle County due to
geologic and weather conditions. We would have preferred to have the northern most trench
connected to what was to have been the first trench by a serial distribution method, instead of
splitting the flow with a distribution box. The northern most trench will be receiving half of the
flow for the entire system. Please provide details on the elevation difference between the
northern most trench and the next trench to the south. My concern is that if that northern most
trench is as deep or deeper than the next trench, the ground could become saturated and
wastewater could surface.
Since the system has been installed and has been functioning since last summer, we will finalize
the system installation after receiving trench elevation details. However, if a problem arises with
the system, an alteration or repair permit would be required. If you have any questions, please
me at 328-8756.
Sincerely,
Laura S. Fawcett, REHS

Edwards, CO $1632 78 Rue De Prinoe

Project No. 99133 - Permit No.1956-00
Dear Greg:
We are writing this letter in response to the letter from Ms. Laura Fawcett, REHS, from the Eagle
County Environmental Health Department, dated November 22, 2000- Due to the changes in the
leachfield layout and more specifically due to the use of a distribution box between the septic tank and
the first two rows of infiltrators on the north end of the leachfield, they had a concern of effluent
surfacing through the ground. In order to finalize the system installation they requested measurements of
the elevations of the two trenches in question.
Based on measurements taken by yourself and Steve Jewett from Arena Excavating, we
understand that the northernmost trench is 8 hundreds of a foot (or about one inch) lower than the next
trench to the south.. This difference is iunsitgn ifieant, considering that the method of a leveling for the
bottom, of the trenches is by raking.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,►'e °yto°

Sean,
Attached is the most recent record for the septic system location on Lot 4 (78 Rue Du Prince). The OWTS was
having problems and was replaced in 2011 in addition to allow expansion of the home.
Although Lot 3 is vacant and appears that moving the lot line between lot 3 & 4 won't be an issue for the septic
system on Lot 4, we should make sure Mr. Jemison understands that Lot Ts ability to support an On -site
Wastewater Treatment System may be affected by moving the lot line. He probably does not intend to build on it
to retain the view looking east but someone may want to build on it in the future if sold at a later date.

PS - I'm glad it turned out this way. Who would have guessed that a simple AFP file could get so involved?
