Dear Brad:
RE: Proposed Addition and Green House Septic
System and Drain Discharge Consultation
Lot 6B, Colorow
2015 Colorow Road
Eagle County, Colorado
Project No. 11015
At the request from Jack Snow, RKD Architects, and based on the information he provided
during a telephone conversation today, we have prepared the following summary of findings and
recommendations for the septic system requirements and the discharge of the floor drain from the green
house on your property at 2015 Colorow Road, Eagle County, Colorado. We understand that the
proposed green house is a part of the proposed new addition to your main residence.
A Proposed Barn was part of the septic system design dated October 6, 2003, drawing number
03175sd.dwg, which was designed for a total of 6 bedrooms. The septic system for the main residence
was constructed in August of 2004. The Future Barn, at the time of the original septic system design, was
to be at a lower elevation from the main house and septic system and an additional septic tank with a lift
station was to be constructed to lift the effluent from the Barn to the leachfield.
The proposed new addition appears to be at a higher elevation from the previously proposed barn
and they are in progress of verifying the elevations of all components for a gravity flow from the
proposed addition to the existing septic system. The proposed addition will not increase the number of
bedrooms used for the original design, so there is no requirement to increase the size of the septic system.
Any proposed changes to the layout and components of the existing septic system must be verified with the
design engineer before construction. All components of the system must be scheduled for inspection prior
to any backfilling.
The drain from the green house can not be connected to the septic system. The drain can
discharge directly outside the structure. The discharge pipe should be protected from frost. The daylight
of the discharge must be protected from burrowing animals. Also, the area in front of the daylight, must
be protected from erosion. The type of protection depends on the amount and the velocity of the water. If
it is a small amount of water at a low velocity, a grassy swale will be sufficient. For larger and faster
flows a lined swale surfaced with rip -rap will be needed.
This report has been prepared according to locally accepted professional engineering standards
for similar methods conditions at this time. There is no other warranty either expressed or implied.
Sincerely,
odqCdo
