Re: Approval for Early Head Start Policies
Dear Ms. Wilson:
As outlined in the Quality Improvement Plan, Eagle County Early Head Start (EHS) has revised
program policies related to:
●Monitoring Program Performance - establishes processes and expectations for the
program to monitor contracted child care centers to ensure such center’s compliance with
Head Start Program Performance Standards.
●Active Supervision - establishes processes and expectations for the EHS staff and staff at
contracted child care centers to ensure supervision of children that promotes safety and
accountability.
●Safety Practices - establishes processes and expectations for a system of health and safety
practices that ensure children at contracted child care centers are kept safe at all times.
●Reporting - establishes processes and expectations for EHS staff and staff at contracted
child care centers to report incidents affecting the health and safety of program
participants to the EHS program leadership who will then inform the Office of Head Start
and the governing bodies.
These program policies are aligned with the Head Start Program Performance Standards. They
have also been reviewed and approved by the EHS Policy Council. The Eagle County Board of
County Commissioners discussed, voted and approved these policy revisions.
