BOARD OF COUN'T'Y COMARSSIONERS
COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO
RESOLUTION NO. 92 -__q�
RESOLUTION REGARDING RED RIBBON WEEK
OCTOBER 24 - NOVEMBER 1, 1992
WHEREAS, Alcohol and other drug abuse has been identified as one of the greatest
threats to the future of our Nation, and the 15 -24 year old age group is dying at a faster rate
than any other age group; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative that visible unified prevention education efforts by
community members be launched to reduce the demand for drugs; and
H, R , EAS, the Colorado Federation of Parents for Drug Free i ou li and Eagle County
are sponsoring the national Red Ribbon Campaign offering citizens the opportunity to
demonstrate their commitment to drug free lifestyles; and
WHEREAS, the National Red Ribbon Campaign will be celebrated in every community
in America during "Red Ribbon Week ", October 24- November 1, 1992; and
WHEREAS, President George Bush and Mrs. Barbara Bush are the National Honorary
Chairpersons, and Governor Roy Romer and Mrs. Bea Romer are the State Honorary
Chairpersons to provide this community focus on a Drug Free America and a Drug Free
Colorado; and
WHEREAS, Business, government, law enforcement, schools, religious institutions,
service organizations, youth, physicians, senior citizens, military, sports teams, and individuals
will demonstrate their commitment to drug -free, healthy lifestyles by wearing and displaying red
ribbons during this week -long campaign; and
WHEREAS, the community of Eagle County, Colorado further commits its resources
to ensure the success of the Red Ribbon Campaign;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of County Commissioners
of the County of Eagle, State of Colorado, do hereby support October 24 - November 1, 1992
as Red Ribbon Week, and encourages its citizens to participate in drug prevention education
activities, making a visible statement that we are strongly committed to a drug -free community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the Board of County Commissioners of the County
of Eagle, State of Colorado, encourages all citizens to pledge; Drug Free & Proud.
MOVED, READ, AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of the
of Eagle, State of Colorado, this - day of September, 1992.
