HomeMy WebLinkAboutR20-074 CPW Non Motorized Trails Grant Application DocuSign Envelope ID:21184769-444E-4F23-B150-5DCC900DBC95 Commissioner Scherr _noved adoption of the following Resolution: BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO Resolution No.2020-074 A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR A COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES,PARKS AND WILDLIFE (CPW)NON-MOTORIZED TRAILS GRANT APPLICATION FOR DESIGN OF PEDESTRIAN AND NON-MOTORIZED FORMS OF TRANSPORTATION IN THE U.S.HIGHWAY 24 CORRIDOR FROM DOWD JUNCTION TO MINTURN WHEREAS,Eagle County recognizes the benefits of acquiring alternative funding sources for operations and capital improvements to the County transportation system through the pursuit of federal/state grants, public/private cost sharing opportunities, and other community share resources; and WHEREAS,Eagle County would like to partner with CPW to achieve goals of the community; and WHEREAS,The area of US Highway 24 between Dowd Junction and Minturn has been identified as providing inadequate and unsafe bicycle and pedestrian facilities; and WHEREAS,Certain bus stops have inadequate or no sidewalks leading to the stops; and WHEREAS, US 6 Highway is increasingly being used by bicyclists for general recreation, and transportation; and a paved, non-motorized, multi-use side path would provide a safety enhancement; and WHEREAS, Eagle County's Eagle Valley Regional Trails Plan identifies and recommends that a paved trail be incorporated along US Highway 24 between Dowd Junction and Minturn. NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS THAT: 1. The Board of County Commissioners of Eagle County, CO supports any potential grant awarded by CPW to Eagle County. 2. The Board of County Commissioners of Eagle County, CO has sufficient funds on hand to contribute towards the design up to $150,000. 3. The Board of County Commissioners of Eagle County, CO strongly supports the application and has or will appropriate matching funds for the grant 4. When the grant is awarded,the Board of County Commissioners, of Eagle County, CO strongly supports the completion of the project as specified in the grant application. Subject to annual appropriations, the Board of County Commissioners, of Eagle County, CO authorizes the expenditure of funds necessary to meet the terms and obligations of any Grant awarded. 6. The Board of County Commissioners of Eagle County, CO recognizes that as the recipient of a grant the project site must provide reasonable public access. 7. The Board of County Commissioners of Eagle County, CO will continue to maintain the paved, non-motorized, multi-use side path in high quality condition. 8. This resolution to be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
