This being a scheduled Public Hearing, the following items were presented to the Board of County
Commissioners for their consideration:
COVID-19 Update
Birch Barron, Eagle County Emergency Manager provided an update on COVID. The state started
allowing exemptions to the state public health order; as such the county was working towards requesting an
exemption based on the disease trends and the county's ability to handle the crisis locally. The trend indicated that
there was a downward trend in confirmed cases. It was important to note that the disease was not gone. There
were still positive cases, and he expected this would continue through the summer. The trend needed to continue in
order to proceed to the next step. The next phase would be determined by the spread and the current phase. He
urged the community take safe steps forward.
Chairman Chandler-Henry asked about the Public Health policy regarding face coverings.
Mr. Barron stated that physical distancing was by far most effective. Masks were a helpful form of
protective equipment. The county strongly encouraged mask use when indoors, public places, during social
activities and/or when physical distancing was not possible.

Cinco de Mayo. He also reminded everyone the importance of taking a moment to fill out the 2020 Census.

the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world. It was an opportunity for
everyone to interact with the local non-profits and to help families in need. If anyone had something to share, today
was a great day to do it.
