':oHEREAS, It has come to the attention of the Board of County Commissioners of the County -of 7agle, State of Colorado, that the Public Service Company of Colorado has applied for a permit to construct a. diversion dam across the Arkansas River below Texas Creek impounding approximately 529 acre -feet of water and di- verting and conveying 300 second feet of water for power purposes from the Arkansas River, leaving that part of the Arkansas River which flows through the Royal Gorge dry for a matter of close tc four miles; and "HREAS, It appearing to the said Board of County Com- :_Assioners, that water ruching through said Royal Gorge is a distinc- tive and important feature of said Gorge as a scenic attraction, and of vast importance to the. people of the State, because of the immense revenue it brings through tourist travel; and HEREAS, In the opinon of this Board, there are a great number of places in Colorado and many rivers with steer runs, :':'here electric power could be generated for ccmmercoel purposes Without rob - bing the people of this State of its greatest scenc attraction. NO::, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Board of County Commissioners, representing the people of Eagle County, do hereby protes a`;ainst the allowence of said application and .rater our objections and protest to the Federal Povrer Commission at :iashington and the Public Utilities Commission of the State of Colorado. DE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a coy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting, and a copy sent to the Federal Power Commission at ':Iashington, and a copy sent to the Public Utilities Commi of the State of Colorado, and copies sent to our :Senators and Congressmen with a request that they support the object of this Resolution.
