R E S O L U T I O L
WHEREAS, the County Commissioners of Pitkin County and
the County Commissioners of Eagle County, in jointly called special
session,held at the Town Hall in the Town of Basalt, Eagle County,
Colorado, on the llth day of January, A.D.1926, pursuant to legal
notice of said meeting previously published in the Aspen Democrat-
Times at Aspen, Colorado, and in the Eagle Talley Enterprise, at
Eagle, Colorado, having under consideration the building of a high -
way bridge near Basalt, Colorado, from shore to shore of the Roaring
Fork River, on site selected near to that of the old ruined bridge,
locally known as the Emma Bridge; the new bridge to rest on end with
an approach in each county, it was res=olved to build such new bridge
and the approaches thereto, as a matter of public convenience and
necessity, and upon specifications therefor submitted by W.H.Lea,
County Engineer of Eagle County, and upon the bid proposal of 0,A.
Switzer, and
WHEREAS, a oontract to build said bridge was thereupon
entered into by and between the said County Commissioners of Eagle
and Pitkin Counties, and the said C.A.Switser, upon the unanimous
vote of the said commissioners, voting upon roll call as then and
there recorded; and it was provided in said contract that said bridge
was to be under construction by the lat day of February, A.D,1926
and completed for publio use by the lst day of June,A.D.1926, and
WHEREAS, it was further resolved by ballot, that from and
after the completion of said bridge, that the counties of Eagle and
Pitkin, will jointly and mutually maintain the same, sharing upkeep
and repair expense equally between the said counties; and-
WHEREAS, it was further resolved by ballot, that on a000ant
of the channel of Roaring Fork River, upstream from the selected site
of said bridge, meandering and ohanging with consequent loss and
damage to the shore lands, first upon one side and then upon the other,
and it being deemed essential to confine the flow of said Roaring Pork
River to a ohannel which will be permanent, and for the protection of
the new bridge, as well as in restraint of destruction of abutting
lands, that the said Counties of Pitkin and Eagle, should mutually and
equally beast the ooat of cleaning said channel of drift 'wood and
other obstructions for a sufficient distance up stream as will be
neooeaary, and mutually and equally bear the cost of such rip -rap
work, wings and embankments as may be required to regulate the flow
of said stream in one channel, and give 'the desired proteotion to
said joint bridge and the adjoining lands.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT R SOLVBD that the Board of County
Commissioners of Eagle County, Colorado, do hereby appro and
confirm all the acts, resolution and agreements that were done
passed, entered into and executed at said special meeting on the
llth day of January, A.D.1926, at tae, Teen Hall in Basalt, ^ Eagle,
County, Colorado, and do hereby r4- affirm and approve all of._, aid
acts,• resolutions and agreements, and do espeeially bind ourselves
and our oounty to that certain oontraot entered into at that time-
with the said C.A.9witaer; and that certain agreement entered_ -- into_
with the County Commissioners of Pitkin County for the mutual and
equal sharing of the expense and cost of theereotion and construction
and futuite maintainenoe of said bridge and the cost of clearing said
channel and the rip -rap work and other necessary expenses incidental
to the protection of said bridge.
BB IT FURTHER RESOLVED—That the Board of County Commissioner*
of Ea1e County, do hereby set aside the sum of $ Fettenb7--,
from the 1926 county road fund to meet one -half the cost of building
said bridge, approaohes,rip -rap work and other necessary expenses in-

oidental to the erection, oonstruotion and protection of said bridge.
.PASSED, ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED, by the County Com-
missioners of Eagle County, at a regular meeting held at Eagle
Colorado, this , 1st day of February, A.D.1926.
