HomeMy WebLinkAboutR20-004 CDOT Grant Application - Phase I Eagle Vail Project Commissioner LM .QUI .1.-4L,--L moved adoption of the following Resolution: BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF(M- A RESOLUTION NO 2020-W A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING A COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (CDOT)TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVES GRANT APPLICATION FOR PHASE 1 CONSTRUCITON OF PEDESTRIAN AND NON- MOTORIZED FORMS OF TRANSPORTATION ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 6 IN THE EAGLE-VAIL BUSINESS CENTER WHEREAS,Eagle County recognizes the benefits of acquiring alternative funding sources for operations and capital improvements to the County transportation system through the pursuit of federal and state grants,public and private cost sharing opportunities, and other community share resources; and WHEREAS,Eagle County would like to partner with CDOT to achieve goals of the community; and WHEREAS,the area of U.S. Highway 6 within Eagle-Vail has been identified as providing inadequate and unsafe bicycle and pedestrian facilities; and WHEREAS,certain bus stops have inadequate or no sidewalks leading to the stops; and WHEREAS,U.S. Highway 6 is increasingly being used by bicyclists for general recreation and transportation, and a paved, non-motorized, multi-use side path would provide a safety enhancement; and WHEREAS, Eagle County's Eagle-Vail Business Center Master Plan identifies and recommends that sidewalks or trails or paths be incorporated along U.S. Highway 6. NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISIONERS THAT: THAT,the Board supports any potential grant awarded by CDOT to Eagle County. THAT,the Board strongly supports the application and understands the requirements for matching funds for the grant. H-1 THAT, if the grant is awarded, the Board strongly supports the completion of the project as specified in the grant application. THAT,the Board recognizes that as the recipient of a grant the project site must provide reasonable public access. THAT,the Board will continue to maintain the paved, non-motorized, multi-use side path in high-quality condition. THAT,this resolution will remain in full force and effect from and after its passage and adoption.
