BOX 2560, Edwards, CO 81632; Ph: (970) 926-6060, ext. 3 Ballot Title and Text: BEAVER CREEK METROPOLITAN DISTRICT BALLOT ISSUE A: WITHOUT RAISING ADDITIONAL TAXES, SHALL BEAVER CREEK METROPOLITAN DISTRICT’S EXISTING PROPERTY TAX LEVY AUTHORIZATION OF $250,000 ANNUALLY OR 0.85 MILLS (WHICHEVER IS LESS) FOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS AT VILAR CENTER BE EXTENDED TO DECEMBER 31, 2031? Summary of Written Comments For Ballot Issue A: This statement is offered in support of extending the Vilar Performing Arts Center’s Operating Mill Levy. This shall not result in any additional taxes. It extends a funding program that has been in place since 2006. Beaver Creek is fortunate to have a performing arts center as beautiful and vibrant as the Vilar Center. It is a vital asset for our community that enhances our quality of life, the value of our properties and helps make Beaver Creek a destination resort for visitors from around the world. The Vilar Center not only presents world class artists and events, but also works with local performing arts organizations to provide a space for local youth to perform. These events benefit full and part time residents, resort visitors and all citizens of the Vail Valley and nearby communities. By voting “YES” property owners will continue the funding of capital improvement projects necessary to keep the Vilar Center fresh and modern. By voting “YES”, the Vilar Center will be able to upgrade equipment to keep pace with emerging technology necessary for maintaining high quality musical and theatrical performances, and attracting top tier shows. By voting “YES”, property owners will help keep the Vilar center one of the best performing arts centers in the country. By voting “YES”, property owners will help preserve and protect the Vilar Center as the vital asset it is for our resort and our community. Summary of Written Comments Against Ballot Issue A: No comments were filed by the constitutional deadline. 2 BEAVER CREEK METROPOLITAN DISTRICT BALLOT ISSUE B: WITHOUT INCREASING ANY EXISTING TAX OR IMPOSING ANY NEW TAX, SHALL BEAVER CREEK METROPOLITAN DISTRICT BE AUTHORIZED TO ENTER INTO LONG-TERM AGREEMENTS FOR FIRE PROTECTION AND EMERGENCY SERVICES FOR UP TO 20 YEARS FOR AN ANNUAL FEE NOT TO EXCEED $1,830,671 IN 2020 ADJUSTED ANNUALLY FOR INFLATION; ALL AS MORE FULLY SET FORTH IN THE FORM OF THE INITIAL AGREEMENT APPROVED BY THE DISTRICT BOARD TO BE EFFECTIVE ON OR AFTER JANUARY 1, 2020? Summary of Written Comments For Ballot Issue B: This statement is offered in support of renewing and extending a long term agreement with the Eagle River Fire Protection District to provide fire protection and emergency services to Beaver Creek. This shall not result in any additional taxes nor creates any new tax. Beaver Creek Metro District has long had a contract with the Eagle River Fire Protection District to support our fire house and fire fighting equipment with staffing, training, supervision, administration, additional equipment support, reserve equipment and equipment maintenance. This new long-term agreement will extend the period for providing these fire protection and emergency services by the Eagle River Fire Protection District for up to 20 years. This new agreement will provide additional staffing of highly trained fire fighting professionals. By voting “YES”, property owners will help provide for the expertise in fire fighting and emergency services so desperately needed by our community. By voting “YES”, property owners will help provide the equipment, facilities and trained personnel necessary for the safety of our community. By voting “YES”, property owners will help continue the long standing, successful relationship between the Eagle River Fire Protection District and Beaver Creek community.
