SCOPE OF WORK
Project Title: “Lake Christine Flood Warning Rain Gauges”
Date: June 9, 2019
Objective: The purpose of this work is to install and maintain 6 raingauges for the
purpose of early warning for flooding within the Lake Christine Burn Scar to monitor
real-time flood risks for the Eagle County and the Town of Basalt following the Lake
Christine wildfire experienced during the 2018 summer season. Basalt and Eagle County
are vulnerable to elevated flood risk caused by the debris and mudflows originating from
heavy rainfall on the burn scar. The six raingauges will be used in real time by
emergency managers to assess real-time threats to the area.
Performance Period: This scope is valid for services performed during the period from
the date of contract signature through December 31, 2019.
Funds Recipient: The work will be administered by Eagle County (County). The work
will be performed by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The County is the
recipient of the funds under this scope of work. The total compensation by the CWCB
shall not exceed $50,000. Additional costs shall be borne by the County or others.
Summary of Requested Work: For the above-mentioned objective, specific duties to
be performed are as follows:
Task 1: Install, operate, and maintain 6 raingauges in the Lake Christine burn. The
raingauges shall be connected to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction and to
the Eagle County Emergency Management office. This work shall be done according to
standard USGS specifications and standards.
Total Cost of Task 1: $50,000
Completion of Work/Payment Schedule:
Funds will be provided on a fixed price basis to the funds recipient for project activities
upon receipt of invoice following installation of the raingauges. Invoices for all project
costs must be received December 31, 2019.
Deliverables:
Flow values and other information captured by the streamgauge will be available on the
USGS website for use by CWCB, emergency managers, and other interested users.
