Box 359 Eagle, Colorado 81631 RE: Notice to Comply with C.R.S. §29- 29- 103(2)(a) Dear Joe: As you know, in 2006 the Colorado legislature enacted Senate Bill 06 -90 (codified at C.R.S. §29 -29 -101, et. seq.) to prohibit local governments from fostering sanctuary policies that prohibit local officials, including peace officers, from communicating or cooperating with federal officials with regard to the immigration status of any person within the state. C.R.S. §29- 29- 103(2)(b) places an affirmative duty on the governing body of each local government to provide written notice to its local peace officers with regard to the county's commitment to uphold and enforce state and federal immigration laws, including the prohibition on local sanctuary policies. The Board of Eagle County Commissioners sent the required notice to your office shortly after passage of the Senate Bill, however, it appears such notice may have recently been misplaced. For that reason, this letter is to serve as a restatement of the originally issued notice under C.R.S. §29- 29- 103(2)(b) and to reaffirm Eagle County's commitment to comply with the same. The Board of County Commissioners for Eagle County is confident that your office has always and continues to comply with the letter of the law in this regard. We remain impressed with the level of service and efforts made by you and your team to maintain a safe and secure community. Keep up the good work! Yours very truly, Eagle County Board of Commissioners Peter F. Runyon Chairman Eagle County Building, 500 Broadway, P.O. Box 850, Eagle, Colorado 81631 -0850 f 11'`µ
