Program Description and Budget
Blue Lake Preschool
Project Description: The funding we receive from BrightStart will enable us to maintain ratios
lower than required by the state while maintaining tuition than parents can afford. The funding
will subsidize a portion of the funds needed to maintain a 4:1 ratio. Lower ratios result in a
higher quality of interactions between teachers and children, improved parent communication
and education, and teacher retention.
Goal: We are going to be meeting two goals with the funds we receive from BrightStart. The
first is to provide quality early care and developmental experiences by maintaining ratios that
are lower than state requirements. Having our ratios lower than the state requirements also
helps us to retain teachers who demonstrate quality. Having fewer children each day increases
a teacher's ability to work with each child in the program, creating a more intimate
relationship, which improves quality.
