Single agency presenting other program/service Applicant(s) Name: Eagle County Volunteer Center Amount of Request: $4,000.00 The populations served through the Eagle County Volunteer Center are local nonprofit organizations and persons who would like to serve those non-profits in a volunteer capacity. Eagle County Volunteer Center serves by recruiting and connecting volunteers and resources for effective community service and to help meet critical needs in the community. In 2006-2007, United Way funding will be used to support the measurable objectives of the Volunteer Center and its Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Eagle County Health and Human Services. (HHS). These goals are as follows: . Reduce Poverty By achieving an increase in literacy skills for 90% of 100+ children. . Achieve Well-beinS?: & Independent LivinS?: for Seniors & Disabled Adults By conducting annual nutrition site impact surveys by October, 2006 Providing 3,600 volunteer hours of service in medical transportation, homemaker and chore services to seniors and disabled adults Providing 5,000 volunteer service hours at senior nutrition sites. . Improve Community Qualitv of Life Providing 15,000 hours of service to community non-profits to meet a variety of human service, cultural and recreational needs. Increase the over 55 Eagle County volunteers registered and active with Rural Resort RSVP by 40; increase the total number of volunteer hours by 20%. Our volunteers are regularly recognized for their contribution to the community. An annual Volunteer Recognition Day, which typically occurs in the fall, honors 10-13 outstanding volunteers in our community. Winners from each category are also submitted to the Governor's office for Colorado Cares recognition. In the past three years, the State of Colorado has honored three volunteers from Eagle County who have led the way in volunteerism in their categories. The Eagle County Volunteer Center currently supports 637 volunteers in 105 agencies and offers service to volunteers of all ages. Volunteers currently serve agencies which address various issues such as emergency or disaster relief, animal and wildlife care, community improvement, arts and culture, the environment, literacy, mentoring, assisting elderly and disabled populations, food banks, hospice care, libraries, senior programs and assisted medical transportation. Outcomes are measured by the number of volunteer sites offered to the volunteers and by the number of volunteers and the number of hours they are able to give to help local non- profit agencies. The goal of the Eagle County Volunteer Center is to continually recruit and match volunteers with meaningful opportunities to address critical needs in our community. Program Description Eagle County Volunteer Center is the only program in Eagle County to provide a volunteer management structure for multiple non-profits in the county. This is accomplished by forming partnerships with local non-profits to promote voluntary service, especially inter-generational service, which strengthens the fabric of our community. The need was determined by a community network of non-profit agencies. In a 2001 Eagle County Non-Profit Organizations Need/Opportunities Assessment, volunteer recruitment and placement was listed as the number two priority. 2. Program Statistics From January 1, 2006 through April 30, 2006, the program registered 637 volunteers who provided 7,403 hours of service, valued at $133,624.15 to 105 local non-profits. 3. Staffing The program is staffed with two volunteer coordinators at Eagle County Health and Human Services. 5. Program Budget The Eagle County Volunteer Center requests funding for Volunteer Support Services. The total program budget for supporting 637 volunteers is $205,000. Local projected contributions are anticipated at $7,500, inclusive of the projected United Way funds. Due to the expected measurable goals for the Volunteer Center for the 2006-2007 calendar year, we would like to request $4,000 from United Way .One hundred percent of the funds received from United Way will be used to support our volunteers. 6. Program Evaluation The accomplishments of this program are measured in its overall success and growth in volunteer participation. Success will be measured by the addition and placement of 100 new volunteers. 7. Funding Options Per the Volunteer Center's agreement with Eagle County, we are committed to improving the quality of life of our residents through thousands of hours of volunteer service to agency non-profit organizations to meet emerging critical needs. As the hub of agency outreach, the United Way continues to be an essential link to the non-profit base that helps us achieve our Volunteer Center support. PART III: OVERVIEW OF LAST YEAR'S PROGRAM The Eagle County Volunteer Center has retained 105 volunteer station sites, and 637 volunteers, including group representation by youth. PART IV. COMMUNITY REINVESTMENT ACT DOCUMENT A TION\ The Eagle County Volunteer Program does not keep statistics on the income of volunteers. PART V.
