Proposal: Funding request in the amount of $7500.00 as partial payment for the
Eagle County Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing Market Research Survey.
Eagle County proposes to survey Eagle County older adults and caregivers, including
second home owners in the 45+ age group to confirm and quantity the demand for a
senior housing and care community.
Eagle County has reviewed the demographic data on the senior population and evaluated
the likely numbers of persons who would need assisted living or skilled nursing care
based on the application of statewide utilization and industry benchmarks. While this
provides a statistical reference for the development of the facility, it does not provide a
measure of actual demand and potential utilization of an assisted living/skilled nursing
facility.
The survey will employ two sample frames: the Eagle County Voter Registration List,
(adjusted to include the 45+ age groups) and the Eagle County Assessor's list of
homeowners (adjusted to include only second home owners). The survey questions will
be designed to:
. Confirm or quantify demand
. Obtain feedback on the concept of a combined facility
. Identity ratios of likely users (short term, long term, dementia, hospice, rehab,
etc.)
. Obtain demographic information including payer mix
. Features that a potential user would like to see in a facility
Eagle County does not have an assisted living or skilled nursing facility within the
county. Residents requiring a supported living situation often remain in their homes past
a point of safe day-to-day in order to avoid moving to another locale for living services.
Eagle County residents in care in other counties are isolated from lifelong friends and
have infrequent contacts with family because of distances.
Respectfully Submitted,
Sheri A Mintz, Adult Services Manager
