the need ror paramedics to he trained as Tactical Medics and u[iliztd within the Shcoriffs

trainingcos[s of two ofHsparamedics as Tactical Medics and [0 pro vide such
individual(s) on an as available basis [0 the Sheriff's Special Operations lInit~

The Shcorillshall evaluate< each candidatco and administer tests to detennine whether a
candidate Illcetsaeccptablc,asdctcrmined bythcShcritT,psycholDgical and physical
litncssstandards, From the remaining pool of qualified candidates, lheSheriffshal1
sco1cctcandidatcostohcodesignated TaetiealJl.-kdics hereunder, In evaluatiIlt:and se!ecting
candidatcs,thcSheriffshallobservcallapplicabJclawsregardingdiseriminallUnin
employment practices. The number ()IDistrict s(alfwho arc selected and eligible 10
serve as Tadical MeLllcs hereunlkr shall he determined hy the District and the Sheriff

percent (50%) of the Tactical ;\kdics' initiallraining and travel CDsls.
3. Uistrict'sPost-lrainin20bligati()ns. Allertheini(ial (ramingiscomplc(e,
the Dislrictshall:
(a) Pay thc Tactical Mcdics' salary for call outs anu munthly lucal
training, During the tenn of this Agreement, the Tadical Meuics
shalJ remain employees of the District: and
(b) The District shall provide Tactical :vblic(s) to the Sheriffs Spcocial
OperationsUnitasrequestedbythcShcriff,subjccttothe
avaiJabiJity.as determineu by the District in its S()1e L1iscretion, of the
Tactical Medics.

Sheriff, and thcDislrict shall pay such Tactical MeLlies' salary 1"0 ran

complete, tilC County, acting through the Sheriff or otherwise, shall:
(a) Provide a proteetiyco vest, equipment harness. and unifonn necessary
for service within The Sheriffs Special Operations Llnit:

direction of the Tadical Team Leader if necessary tar safely purposes. The Tactical
lV1edic shall provide medical eare eonsistent with the rules, regulalion s and operating
proccdurcs (collcctively, Protocols") proscribcd bythc District. To thc cxtCnt an incidcnt
poscs a conflict bet\veen District Protocols and the Sheriff s operating procedures with
regard to team-member safery_ or to the extent there is an una~~eptable conilkt between
District I'rotocols and tcam-mcmbcr safcty in thcjudgmcnt of the Sheritrs I actieal Team
Leader. the radi~al Medics shall defer to the Tactical Team Leader's instrl1ctions.
6. Peri,c;>4i.; _Qp~mti()!!<llM~~!l!)gs. Kepresentatives of the Distri~t and the
Sheriff shall meet and confer from time-to-time to discuss and plan ra~tical t\-1edic
opcratingproccdurcs, Thcparrics shall fimhcr(i) dclincatc thc Tactical I'vledic's scope of
duties and dcgrce of participation in dcfensivcactiollS and maneuvers, (ii) agree to
opcratingprocedurcsas needcd,and (iii) idcntify and resolve potential areas of conflict
bctwcenopcratingproccdurcs.
7. lJ)~,Ie.I@tn~AtiQJ), The CO\lllty agrees to fully indelllllify and hold harmless
the District from any and all10sscs. liabilities. damages, or costs, induding reasonable
altomey's fees. which may be incurred as a result ofthe District's participation in this
Agreement, whether any such loss or liability was caused by the negligence of the
DistJi~l or olherwise. The County further agrees to imkmniry and hold harmless lhe
Districl tar any acts or conduct on the Tacti~al Medics' part.. of whatever kind or nature
whatsocver, while providing Tactical Mcdic scrviccs pursuant to this Agreement.
8. \YQr/(q~:C0mpqlS,~JiQn. The Tactical Medics are to be covered under the
District's workers' compcnsation policy. In the event the District receives notice that thc
ractkallV1edics are not covered under the Distrkt's workers. compensation polky', the
District may immediately suspend this /\greement until adequate provision for coverage
is made.
