travel laterally to the Eagle River (sec the attached maps). The bridge will be constructed at the
terminus of th~, Avon to Dowd Junction Phase I trail project completed 1Il nud-2004. We have
two options for thc bridge crossing within hUlldreds offeetofeach othcr_ Thetwo
corresponding trail alignments will take thc regional system into A VOll. Wc are prcsently
working on detcrminlllg the most easlly constrllcted of the two trail alignmclJts, both have
opportunities and constraints. Ourprcliminarybudgetestimatcsdemonstratethalmcithercase,
the bridge as asingJc cost ilemhas asizcabJc impact on our budget. IfwecanJevcrageollr
func1s with a local match anc1 a state trails grant, we can begin conslruct ion on the bridge in late

Dear Marilyn,
Regarding the LWCF grant of funds towards the Avon to Dowd Junction Phase II Trail Bridge,
the original scope will remain unaffected despite the reduced award amount of $140,000.
Eagle County Regional Transportation Authority (ECO Trails) commits to contributing more
matching funds and has submitted a revised budget to the Colorado State Trails Program staff.
