Box 1833 Eagle, Colorado 81631 970-748-7344 APPLICATION for PROGRAM FUNDING 2004 This application is for: ^ Single agency presenting other program/service Applicant(s) Name: Eagle County Volunteer Center Amount of Request: $2,000.00 The population served through the Eagle County Volunteer Center, are local non-profit organizations and persons who would like to serve those non-profits in a volunteer capacity. Eagle County Volunteer Center serves by recruiting and connecting volunteers and resources for effective community service. United Way funding will be used to support an additional 40 volunteers throughout the valley's existing non-profits. Volunteers are provided with excess liability insurance, including a death benefit while on an assignment and are also partially reimbursed for gas mileage driving to and from an assignment and are recognized for their contribution to the community. The program has grown dramatically beginning with the RSVP component in 2000. The Eagle County Volunteer Center currently supports 434 volunteers in 78 agencies and offers service to volunteers of all ages. Volunteers currently serve agencies which address issues such as: emergency or disaster relief, animal and wildlife care, community improvement, arts and culture, the environment, literacy, mentoring, assisting elderly and disabled populations, food banks, hospice care, literacy, libraries, senior programs and assisted medical transportation. Outcomes are measured by the number of volunteer sites offered to the volunteers and by the number of volunteers and the number of hours they are able to give to help local non- profit agencies. The goal of Eagle County Volunteer Center is to continually recruit and match volunteers with meaningful opportunities. APPLICATION FOR PROGRAM FUNDING 1. Program Description Eagle County Volunteer Center is the first program in Eagle County to provide a volunteer management structure for multiple non-profits in this county. This is accomplished by forming partnerships with all local non-profits to promote voluntary service, especially inter-generational service which strengthens the fabric of our community. The need was determined through research identified in the currently operating RSVP (retired and senior volunteer program) grant and by a community network ofnon-profit agencies. Ina 2001 Eagle County Non-Profit Organizations need/opportunities Assessment., Volunteer Recruitment and Placement was listed as the number two priority 2.Program Statistics. From January 1, 2004 through March 30, 2004 the program registered 429 volunteers, who provided 6,621.85 hours of service, valued at $97,574.84 to 781oca1 non-profits. 3. Program Demographics. Staffing This program is staffed with two volunteer coordinators at Eagle County Health & Human Services. 5. Program Budget The Eagle County Volunteer Program requests funding for Volunteer Support Services. The total program budget for supporting 450 volunteers is $175,404. Local contributions total $9650. We are requesting 20% of the locally funded portion from United Way. One hundred percent of the funds received from United Way will be used to support volunteers. 6. Program Evaluation The accomplishments of this program are measured in its overall success and growth in volunteer participation. Success will be measured by the addition and placement of 40 new volunteers. 7. Funding Options The Eagle County Volunteer Program will contact other local funding sources. In the event we are unsuccessful we will maintain our current volunteer level. PART III. OVERVIEW of LAST YEAR'S PROGRAM The Eagle County Volunteer Center has expanded both volunteers and volunteer sites during the past year. PART IV. COMMUNITY REINVESTMENT ACT DOCUMENTATION The Eagle County Volunteer Program does not keep statistics on the income of volunteers. PART V. CERTIFICATION We certify that this application is true and correct to the best of our knowledge. As a United Way of Eagle River Valley agency, we agree to abide by the by-laws and guidelines of UWERV. We further certify that we follow written non-discriminatory policies.
